What We Do
FuneralCompare is the UK's independent funeral price comparison service. We collect and publish standardised pricing information from funeral directors across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland — all following the CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) standardised price list format.

Why CMA Pricing Matters
Since 2021, the CMA requires all UK funeral directors to publish a standardised price list covering the same set of items and services. This regulation was introduced because the funeral industry historically lacked transparency, making it difficult for families to compare prices or understand what they were paying for.
FuneralCompare makes this data useful. Instead of digging through individual PDFs or website pages, you can see every funeral director's prices in one place, formatted consistently, and compare them on a like-for-like basis.
We also track price changes over time, flagging which funeral directors have increased or decreased their prices, so you can make a fully informed choice.
Our Story
FuneralCompare was founded out of personal experience. When a member of our team lost a family member and was faced with arranging a funeral, they were shocked at how opaque and confusing the pricing was. Calls to multiple funeral directors yielded wildly different quotes for what seemed like the same service — and comparing them required spreadsheets, phone calls, and considerable effort.
We realised that if trained professionals struggle to navigate funeral pricing, families dealing with grief stood almost no chance. So we built FuneralCompare — a tool that does the hard work of collecting, standardising, and presenting funeral prices so families don't have to.
Since launching, we've indexed pricing data from funeral directors across the UK and helped thousands of families find affordable, transparently priced funeral services.
